This Ole House Lyrics

Well, I ain't a gonna need this house no longer
Ain't a gonna need this house no more
Ain't got time to fix the shingles, ain't got time to fix the floor
Ain't got time to oil the hinges nor to mingle window panes
Ain't gonna need this house no longer I'm gettin' ready to meet the saintsWell this ole house once knew my children
This house once knew my wife
This ole house was home and comfort
As we fought the storms of lifeThis ole house once rang with laughter
This ole house heard many shouts
But now it trembles in the darkness
When the lightnin' walks aboutWell, I ain't a gonna need this house no longer
Ain't a gonna need this house no more
Ain't got time to fix the shingles, ain't got time to fix the floor
Ain't got time to oil the hinges nor to mingle window panes
Ain't gonna need this house no longer I'm gettin' ready to meet the saintsNow my old hound dog lies a sleepin'
He don't know I'm gonna leave
Else he'd wake up by the fireplace
And he'd howl and moan and grieveBut my huntin' days are over

Ain't gonna hunt the coon no more
Gabriel just brought in my chariot
When the wind blew down the doorWell, I ain't a gonna need this house no longer
Ain't a gonna need this house no more
Ain't got time to fix the shingles, ain't got time to fix the floor
Ain't got time to oil the hinges nor to mingle window panes
Ain't gonna need this house no longer I'm gettin' ready to meet the saints

The Statler Brothers were an American country music vocal group founded in 1955 in Staunton, Virginia. Originally performing gospel music at local churches, the group billed themselves as The Four Star Quartet, and later The Kingsmen. In 1963, when the song "Louie, Louie" by the garage rock band also called The Kingsmen became famous, the group elected to bill themselves as The Statler Brothers. Despite the name, only two members of the group (Don and Harold Reid) are actual brothers and none have the surname of "Statler".
