Time Off From Good Behavior Lyrics

We've been working real hard and the bills are caught up
For three weeks at church we've been sitting up front
Even had your Mamma over for lunch
We've been good little angles but enough's enoughIt's early to bed and early to rise
Crossing out T's and dotting out I's
We've paid our dues and we've paid our tithes
But for goodness sake it's Friday night[Chorus:]
We need time off from good behavior
Spend a lil' too much, stay up a lot later
Get a little naughty, do ourselves a favor
Take a little time off from good behaviorWe've been all wrapped up in our daily grind
We'll come unwound if we don't unwind
We'll mind our P's and Q's some other time
I think a little R and R's in line

Doug Supernaw was born on September 26, 1960, in Bryan, Texas. His mother, a fan of country music, exposed him to acts such as George Jones and Gene Watson, by whose works he would later be influenced. Supernaw later attended college on a golfing scholarship; after dropping out of college in 1979, he briefly worked on an oil rig before serving as a musician in local bands. Doug moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1987, where he found work as a session songwriter. After four years in Nashville, however, he moved back to Texas, where he founded a band called Texas Steel.
