Tom Cat Blues Lyrics

I've got an old tom cat
When he steps out
All the pussycats in the neighborhood
They begin to shout"Here comes Ring Tail Tom
He's steppin' around the town
And if you got your heat turned on
You better turn your damper down"-Yodel--Dobro Solo-Ring Tail Tom on a fence
The old pussy cat on the ground
Ring Tail Tom come off of that fence
And they went around and aroundLord, he's quick on the trigger
He's a natural born crack shot
He finds a new target every night
And he sure does practice a lot-Yodel--Dobro Solo-He makes them roustabout
He makes them roll their eyes
They just can't resist my Ring Tail Tom
No matter how hard they tryYou better watch old Ring Tail Tom
He's boss around the town
He won't have a pussy cat

Tomcattin' around-Yodel--Dobro Solo-Ring Tail Tom is the stuff
He struts around the town
All the pussy cats in the neighborhood
Can't get old Ring Tail downHe's always running around
Just can't be satisfied
He goes out every night
With a new one by his side-Yodel--Dobro Solo-

Cliff Carlisle (May 6, 1903, Taylorsville, Kentucky – April 5, 1983, Lexington, Kentucky) was an American country and blues singer. Carlisle was a yodeler and was a pioneer in the use of the Hawaiian steel guitar in country music. Carlisle grew up in Kentucky, and began performing locally with cousin Lillian Truax at age 16. Truax's marriage put and end to the group, and following this Carlisle began playing with Wilber Ball, a guitarist and tenor harmonizer. The two toured frequently around the U.S. playing vaudeville and circus venues in the 1920s.
