Great work from a contemporary European vocalist -- one who easily shifts between influences from soul jazz, bossa nova, and older torch jazz -- all presented beautifully here with small combo backings! Most of the lyrics here are in English, and there's a warmly soulful feel to the record that reminds us a bit of recent jazz sides from Carmen Lundy and Dee Dee Bridgewater -- quite good company, considering our love of their work! The combo features guest tenor sax from Jesper Thilo on a few numbers -- and titles include "The Jody Grind", "Blues For Laila", "Fly Away", "So Many Stars", "You're Driving Me Crazy", "Meditacao", and "Feel Like Making Love".
