Too Long At the Fair (Remastered Version) Lyrics

Jesus cried, wept and died
I guess He went up to heaven
Ive been downtown such a long, long time
Ill never make it home by sevenWont You come and take me home?
Ive been too long at the fair
And, Lord, I just cant stand it anymoreWell, I went down to Chasons
Walked till my feet got sore
I never knew what laughin was
Till you walked out the doorWont You come and take me home?
Ive been too long at the fair
And, Lord, I just cant stand it anymoreWell, you can give my soul to Abraham
Give my soul to Saul
Give my bones to Canada
My feet they dont hurt at allI dont know who made the highway
I guess thats just my pride
But I have heard the prince of darkness
On his charger rideThe silver blade is gleamin
The scales are in his hands

I swear another night is fallin
Dont you lose another manWont You come and take me home?
Ive been too long at the fair
And, Lord, I just cant stand it anymore

Bonnie Raitt, (born November 8, 1949) is an American blues and R&B singer, songwriter, and guitarist who was born in Burbank, California, the daughter of Broadway musical star John Raitt. Raitt began playing guitar at an early age, something not a lot of her high school girlfriends did. "I had played a little at school and at camp," she later recalled in a July 2002 interview. "My parents would drag me out to perform for my family, like all parents do, but it was a hobby—nothing more...I think people must wonder how a white girl like me became a blues guitarist.
