Too Many Years Lyrics

I opened the door and I found I was looking at danger
It's been too many years but we're hiding our faces like strangers
She says that she's got to go but there ain't no way
I'm letting her walk while there's something to sayIt's been too many years
To watch our hearts die this wayShe's feeling a time for a seasonal change and she's yearning
To shake the trees of our love in the streets
Where the leaves are for burning
All things on this earth were made for the dying
A look in my soul says, it just ain't no use tryingIt's been too many years
To watch our hearts die this wayIn an unwritten time I thought that life was for sharing
And living together was simply a matter of caring
But things did not work out like I planned
And alienation has left me here damnedIt's been too many years
To watch our hearts die this way

Jefferson Airplane was a psychedelic rock group formed in San Francisco. It was the first of several Bay Area psychedelic groups of the 1960s to become internationally known. The band was founded by singer Marty Balin and guitarist Paul Kantner in 1965. With the addition of Signe Anderson, their male-female singing style showed their folk music roots plus Balin's love of R&B singing styles. In fact their dual lead vocals were a hallmark of their sound throughout the Airplane's career, as confirmed (to international acclaim) after Grace Slick replaced Signe Anderson as the female singer.
