Top of the World Lyrics

To be on the top of the world
To be on the top of the world
The stores are open people buying, people trying climbing
To get to the top of the world,
In this modern day war and it’s simple Simon
I’m paying my bills
She’s taking some pills
He’s drunk and behind the wheel
Actors acting, rappers rapping
Trapped in a drug of a deal
Homeless are looking for meals
The thief is still looking to steal
You chasing the money
Chasing you're praying for marriage, romancing your honey
I’m searching but where does it end,
I’m leaning on calling on a friend
I’m running, and running, for someone,

To lend me a hand or to help me ascend
To be on top of the world
Gotcha, gotcha ye girl
Its whatcha you wanted whatcha you want
It’s what you’re living for
To be on top of the world
Gotcha, gotcha ye girl
Its whatcha you wanted whatcha you want
It’s what you’re living for
Hey, Hey, gotta believe in something
Hey, Hey, you gotta climb to the top of the world,
Hey, gotta believe in something
Show you the way, every day is a mission to be
On top of the world
Its 9’oclock right on the dot
And you’ll be here to 5
Armies are marching on the fields
We pray they all survive
Peace on earth to all men,
The stars they shine from heaven
It’s whatcha you want, it’s what you want,
It’s what we’re living for
A boy and girl they hold hands,
I hope it lasts forever
It’s never enough to find one that you love
And not just seeking for self to pleasure
What is this mountain you climb?
Is it for peace or for pride?
The prize, the goals,
the thoughts inside our motives come alive
To be on top of the world
Gotcha, gotcha ye girl
Its whatcha you wanted whatcha you want
It’s what you’re living for
To be on top of the world
Gotcha, gotcha ye girl
Its whatcha you wanted whatcha you want
It’s what you’re living for
Hey, Hey, gotta believe in something
Hey, Hey, you gotta climb to the top of the world,
Hey, gotta believe in something
Show you the way, every day is a mission to be
On top of the world
Left, right, left, right, step into the lime light
Get into your car drive, everything is alright
It’s alright, alright, everything is alright
Live like it’s your last night, (LIVE LIKE ITS YOUR LAST NIGHT)
I wanna live forever,
While storing up some treasures
I wanna go to heaven
And never be abandoned
I’m spending my time now renewing my mind
To the truth I climb so high
I find and apply to my life the joy I will lift up my eyes
To be on top of the world
Gotcha, gotcha ye girl
Its whatcha you wanted whatcha you want
It’s what you’re living for
To be on top of the world
Gotcha, gotcha ye girl
Its whatcha you wanted whatcha you want
It’s what you’re living for
Hey, Hey, to be on top of the world
Hey, Hey,
To be on top of the world
On top of the world

Chris Greenwood (best known as Manafest) is a rapper from Toronto Ontario Canada.

He is also a skater, which led to his career in hip hop; after an accident in 1998, he took time to focus on rap and was noticed by Trevor McNevan of Ontario-based band Thousand Foot Krutch. This led to his signing to an internationally distributed label, BEC Recordings, and debut release Epiphany, which was made primarily of West Coast hip hop with several rapcore outings in the vein of Limp Bizkit.

He released two independent albums, Mislead Youth (2001) and My Own Thing (2003), prior to Epiphany in 2005. He has toured in Canada, the United States and Ireland to date.

His second album, Glory, emphasized rap-rock elements with more Linkin Park-esque nu metal, and included more authentic hip hop stylings.

Central themes of Manafest's music include nonconformity, hip hop culture, and walking with God.

Manafest says in regards to Glory that: "I wanted to allow all of my influences show on Glory. Musically, I wanted to blend the appeal of Linkin Park, Sum 41, and The Beastie Boys. Vocally, I wanted to merge that with popular hip hop à la Eminem and Kanye West. But beyond musical influence, I wanted to reflect on the issues around me in the most positive way possible. And whether I am talking about the loss of loved ones and abuse, or breakdancing and skate culture, it's all for the glory of heaven. In the end, my prayer is that people would not simply bob their heads to this, but feel a very real sense of healing from the words. However, this record is not all serious. Some of my favorite tracks are the most lighthearted ones."
