Turquoise House Lyrics

I'll never fit in so why should I try?
How I'm I ever gonna pass for a normal guy?
I can't wear no suit and tie, gotta let my freak flag fly
If I walk the straight and narrow one more day I think I'll dieBecause I wanna live in a turquoise house
With a turquoise garden and a turquoise yard
Drive around town in a turquoise car
Find a turquoise girl with a turquoise heartNow faith is a riddle and love is a dream
Things are seldom what they seem
If you say your prayers at night and comb your hair just right
You might not feel like you're in hell but then again you mightMe, I wanna live in a turquoise house
With a turquoise garden and a turquoise yard
Drive around town in a turquoise car
Find a turquoise girl with a turquoise heartI want turquoise carpets and turquoise shoes
Turquoise papers with all the turquoise news
Turquoise only, not teal or aquamarine
I've seen my future and it's a shade of blueish greenNow I can't turn back, there ain't no way
(He's going turquoise today)
When word gets out there'll be hell to pay

(He's going turquoise today)This life's not for the faint
But you can't be what you ain't
I know I'll never truly be myself
Till I get me that turquoise paintBecause I wanna live in a turquoise house
With a turquoise garden and a turquoise yard
Drive around town in a turquoise car
Find a turquoise girl with a turquoise heartI wanna live in a turquoise house
With a turquoise garden and a turquoise yard
Drive around town in a turquoise car
Find a turquoise girl with a turquoise heartA turquoise girl with a turquoise heart
A turquoise girl in a turquoise dress
And a skirt and a shirt
That's covering up her turquoise heart

Jim White is a southern gothic alt-country singer-songwriter. He has released four albums as a solo artist.

While his music is based in americana, he borrows elements from rock, rhythm and blues, and even electronica, often piecing sounds together in the lo-fi cut-and-paste fashion of artists like Tom Waits. His albums have featured a wide variety of collaborators, such as Victoria Williams, Morcheeba, Aimee Mann, Barenaked Ladies, and Joe Henry. He is signed to David Byrne's Luaka Bop label and appeared in the BBC documentary, Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus, which looks at musicians inspired by the culture of the American South.

Not be confused with the acclaimed Dirty Three / Cat Power / Smog / P. J. Harvey / Nina Nastasia drummer, who also had a recent collaboration album "You Follow Me" with Nastasia under the name of Nina Nastasia And Jim White
