Unconditional Love Lyrics

We could change the whole story of love
Same old play I'm getting tired of
No more acting these predictable roles
Just us living
Unconditional loveFaded clichés and makeup
Dancing and singing, scripted delight
Every act ends in breakup
That same old boring story I played too many nights
The curtain ends up falling
Then arrows strike my heartOh, but oh
If some realness should find me
Like the magic in your eyes, oh
If your eyes would invite me, ohWe could change the whole story of love
Same old play I'm getting tired
No more acting these predictable roles
Just us living
Unconditional loveWe could change the whole story of love
Same old play I'm getting tired

No more acting these predictable roles
Just us living
Unconditional loveBe my finale, waiting
Off in the wings to sing the last song
And when we're done pretending
Throw me a white bouquetOh I, close the curtain behind me
And enclose me in your arms, oh
If your arms would invite me, ohWe could change the whole story of love
Same old play I'm getting tired of
No more acting these predictable roles
Just us living
Unconditional loveWe could change the whole story of love
Same old play I'm getting tired of
No more acting these predictable roles
Just us living
Unconditional loveWe'd see a real love start unfolding, ohLa, la la, ohWe could change the whole story of love, and
Same old play I'm getting tired of
No more acting these predictable roles
Just us living, unconditional loveWe could change the whole story of love
Boring play I'm getting tired of
No more acting these predictable roles
Just us living, unconditional loveWoah, the whole story of love's a
Boring play I'm getting tired of
No more acting these predictable roles
Just us livingUnconditional Love

Born in 1984, bassist, singer and composer Esperanza Spalding began playing in small jazz and blues venues around her hometown of Portland, Oregon. Soon after picking up the acoustic bass at the late age of 14, she helped form Noise for Pretend, an eclectic band fusing jazz and pop for which she sang and played bass (often simultaneously). The group signed with indie rock imprint Hush Records, which released two albums of their original compositions.
