Under the Western Stars Lyrics

Paint the stars in the sky
On the ceiling above our bed
Roll through the night with your blood
Beating hard like a drum inside my headPaint the stars in the sky
That were shining on the night we met
If we can do this
Then we can do anythingThrow the clothes in a pile
In the corner on the dirty wood floor
Open up the big windows
Throw a chain on the double locked doorsOpen up to the flame, so strong
It feels so good even though
We know it's wrong
When we make love, I feel complete
Yeah, like I can do anythingWe can lose ourselves to the faraway sound
Of the noise of the boulevard
We can lose ourselves tonight
Underneath the western starsThe wind sounds just like the ocean
Blowing big through the trees in my backyard

I sit alone in a dark room
Smoking and wondering where you areYou went away when the truth came down
The sex was not enough for you
To make you wanna stick around
You said that I made you feel weak
I made you feel like you couldn't do anythingI try to sing myself to sleep to the rhythm
Of the sound of the boulevard cars
Yeah, I lay awake with my eyes wide open
Underneath the western starsHard promises broken
Should have never been made
You were cold in your anger
I was warm in the shameI don't have any illusions
Of the good old days
If we make it through this
Then I know that we can do anything
We can do anythingI'm going to walk all the steps
Find a place where I can lie
Lay on my back in the grass
And stare at the stars in the warm night skyI'm gonna find me a new blond girl
Hungry for the things
That don't come easy in the real world
She will let me be myself
I know she will let me do anythingWe can lose ourselves making love all night
On a blanket, in the neighborhood park
We can lose ourselves making love all night
Underneath the western stars
We can lose ourselves tonight
Underneath the western starsHard promises broken
Should have never been made
You were cold in your anger
I was warm in the shameI don't have any illusions
Of the good old days
If I can make it through this
Then I know that I can do anything
Yeah, I can do anything

Everclear is a rock band formed in Portland, Oregon, USA, in 1992. For most of its existence, Everclear consisted of Art Alexakis (b. 12 April 1962, Los Angeles, California, USA; vocals, guitar), Craig Montoya (b. 14 September 1970; bass, vocals) and Greg Eklund (b. 18 April 1970; drums). Eklund replaced original drummer Scott Cuthbert in 1994. Montoya and Eklund departed the band in 2003, but Alexakis has continued performing as Everclear with a new lineup.

After a solo tour in the fall of 2003, Alexakis decided to continue with Everclear, organizing a new band that made its debut in March of 2004. The new lineup consisted of bass player Sam Hudson, guitarist Dave French, and drummer Eric Bretl. In the summer of 2004, the band added keyboard player Josh Crawley, and swapped Bretl for former Everclear drum tech Brett Snyder. The new lineup released its first recording, a cover of Woody Guthrie's This Land Is Your Land, that summer. A self-released EP of performances recorded for XM Satellite Radio called Closure was given out at shows in the fall of 2004.

Free of a major label, Alexakis spent the ensuing year and half slowly recording material for a new Everclear release. He admitted that the time after the breakup of the original lineup served as a "wake up call", during which he suffered his third divorce and a filing for bankruptcy. Alexakis announced the completion of the album in early 2006,titled Welcome To The Drama Club. The new band is now on Eleven Seven Music.

In August of 2008, drummer Brett Snyder left the band after four years. He was then replaced by Tommy Stewart, who previously played in bands Fuel and Godsmack.
