Valhall Awaits Me (Live At Summer Breeze 2007) Lyrics

Blood gushes from the wound
The cut is wide and deep
And before I turn around
He falls to his kneesA clear song rings in the blade
When steel meets hardened steel
I hear the sound of wood that breaks
A sword cuts through my shieldI drop the shield and grab my axe
A weapon in each fist
The first blow makes the helmet crack
The axe cut to the teethI rip the axe from the head
Covered in blood and brains
Leave the body lying dead
Ready to strike againMy sword cuts through clothes and skin
Like a hot knife cuts through snow
I smile as the bastard screams
When I twist my swordSword in my hand, axe on my side
Valhall awaits me, soon I will die
Bear skin on my back, wolf jaw on my head

Valhall awaits me when I'm deadI raise my axe above my head
My eyes stare in furious rage
Yet more blood will be shed
This is a victorious dayBlood gushes from the wound
The cut is wide and deep
As I turn around
I fall to my kneesSword in my hand, axe on my side
Valhall awaits me, soon I will die
Bear skin on my back, wolf jaw on my head
Valhall awaits me when I'm dead

Deeply rooted in melodic death metal with lyrics centered around Viking history and Norse mythology, Amon Amarth (formerly known as Scum) was formed, with the arrival of Johan Hegg as the new vocalist, in 1992 in Tumba, Sweden, a southern suburb of Stockholm. They began writing material with lots of melodies, harmonies and lyrics about Vikings and the norse Pantheon. In summer 1993 they entered Lagret Studio to record the Thor Arise demo, which would later on appear on the bonus disc of the album Versus The World.
