Dutch singer-songwriter Desmond Haneveer (Breda, 1971) writes songs about the small and bigger things in life. Living in Leidsche Rijn, Utrecht as a part of an ongoing social experiment he was crowned recently as King of the Vinex. Grumpy guitars, leaky synths, weird samples and beats and songs which still remain their popsensibility. His debutalbum Snaartheorie (String Theory) was released in 2004 . He has a fascination for big things in the universe, writers, movies, science, old books and new gadgets. His latest EP Gemengde Gevoelens (Mixed Feelings) dives into a more powerpop territory. 4 songs about pretending, dying and the Amsterdam-Rhine canal. Still coming up early next year is Ondersneeuw (Undersnow, 2009). Until then you can enjoy the large hooks and weird sounds of Gemengde Gevoelens. When he's not writing music, Belker is busy studying the birds in his garden.
