Waiting Lyrics

Like a starry night without the moon up in the sky
Like a bird in flight who broke his wing and couldn't fly
Since you've been away, all I do is pray
And I'll keep waitingLike a carousel that's spinning round without a child
Like a fallen clown who tries to laugh but lost his smile
How can I go on, all in life is gone
But I'll keep waitingUntil you come back home, keep on waiting
I still see your face but you're not hereCrying in the night, I will call your name
I just can't believe that you're really gone
Until you're by my side, I'll keep on waitingLike a photograph that fades away with passing time
Like a misty song that doesn't play and lost its rhyme
How can I go on, all in life is gone
But I'll keep waitingUntil you come back home
I'll keep on waiting
I still see your face
But you're not hereCrying in the night, I will call your name
I just can't believe you're really gone
Until you're by my side, I'll keep on waitingSince you've been away all I do is pray

That you'll come to me, come back in my lifeWith all that we've been through
I can't stop loving you and I keep waiting
Keep on waiting, keep on waiting
Waiting, waiting

Neil Sedaka (born 13 March 1939 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American pop singer, pianist, and songwriter often associated with the Brill Building era of songwriting. He teamed up with Howard Greenfield to write many major hit songs for himself and others.

Sedaka wrote his 1959 hit "Oh! Carol" about his then-girlfriend, Carol Klein, later to become Carole King. In 1963, King released a humorous answer entitled "Oh Neil".

The Laughter In the Rain Songfacts says Sedaka's hits dried up when The Beatles arrived, but then he teamed up with the lyricist Philip Cody and had a a number 1 hit with "Laughter In The Rain." It re-ignited Sedaka's career and he had 6 more Top-40 hits in America by 1977.

Sedaka's voice is in the tenor range.
