Waiting for the Moon to Rise Lyrics

All the way back home
I'm telling you I caught the sun
Creeping up behind my shoulder
Another day's begunI was following a trail
I'd never been along before
Chasing darkened skies above meLooking like the spring
Like the winter and the morningIf there's a place I want to go
Then I'll be there with you
'Cause in my dreams the things
I'm wishing for keep coming trueNow a new day comes
Clears the darkness out of sight
And the shadows that were sleeping
Come and dance beneath the lightAnd I'm trying hard to hide
Keeping the sun out of my eyes
Close them tight
And now I'm waiting for the moon to riseDon't try to say to me
That this was never meant to be
'Cause the days are long where I come from

The next few days I'm freeThere's a train I want to catch
But it won't leave here for a while
Till darkness fills the eastern sky
And streetlights stretch for milesThrough the spring
And the winter and the morning

Belle and Sebastian is a band from Glasgow. Led by guitarist/vocalist Stuart Murdoch, the seven-piece band has an intimate, majestic sound that is equal parts folk-rock and '60s pop. Murdoch has a gift not only for whimsy and surrealism, but also for odd, unsettling lyrical detail which keeps the songs grounded in a tangible reality. Based in Glasgow, Scotland, Belle and Sebastian released their first two albums in 1996: Tigermilk, recorded over three days, and If You're Feeling Sinister, recorded in a week, at the peak of the chamber pop movement.
