Walls Lyrics

She said goodbye and it's like she fell right off this earth
Six long nights, I ain't seen hide nor hair of her
And this old lazy boy, is feelin' like my only friend
There's sunshine shinin' on the world outside but there ain't none shinin' in
Startin' now, somehow
I've gotta leave her in my past
Walk this floor right out that door
Before these walls start talkin' back
I bet the neighbors think either I've skipped town or I've bought the farm
I got my shades pulled down
And there's a week's worth of papers in my yard
Hey, what was that? Did I just hear somebody call my name
Oh, Lord knows I'm just a few thoughts shy of bein' certified insane
Startin' now, somehow
I've gotta leave her in my past
Walk this floor right out that door
Before these walls start talkin' back
Yeah, that's a fact

Yeah, startin' now, somehow
I've gotta leave her in my past
Walk this floor right out that door
Before these walls start talkin' back
Get me out of here
And we will walk this floor right out the door

Ray Scott refers to two musicians. One is a contemporary country musician. The other was a rockabilly star from Indiana who produced classic rockabilly music in the 1950's, often with his band, the Demens or his other band, the Four Recorders. Ray Scott (Henry Raymond Scott) died in 1999. The contemporary Ray Scott grew up outside of Semora, North Carolina. He was influenced by the farming community around him and by the country outlaw movement (Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson).
