Wandering Lyrics

She's a million miles away from me
Separated by a hollow wooden door
And some time we can't erase
Serves me right to let her in
The first time she knockedAnd all this wandering
Got you nothing
And you were ready to
But never couldThings you never saw in me she'll see
Observations that she'd heard from other people
But she never understood
Serves her right not knowing
Just exactly what she wantsAnd all this wandering
Got me nothing
And you were ready to
But never couldAre you happy wandering?Remember sitting on a car that night
Clouds rolled out
Unveiling lights around the bay
And you told me all those things

Remember that
You told me you can't match your clothes
Remember that
I confessed that when I laugh sometimes I'm cryin'
And then we sat and
Didn't talk for half-an-hourRemember that
alone
'Cause I won't remember anymoreAnd all this wandering
And all this wandering

Ben Folds Five is a trio formed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States in 1994, who until their breakup in 2000 were a mainstay of piano rock. Much of their work was influenced by jazz, evident in frequent improv-styled passages through bridge and/or ending. The members of the band are Ben Folds, the lead singer and pianist, who also wrote most of the songs; Robert Sledge on bass; and Darren Jessee on drums. The group enjoyed the success of the single Brick in 1997, a ballad written by Folds (with a chorus by Jessee) about his high school girlfriend getting an abortion.
