Wanna Know You Lyrics

I saw a street corner angel
Platinum problems pressed against the wall
She paid her dues, bought stiletto shoes
Had a real mean pimp named PaulWell Paul tied her up to the railroad tracks
'Cause he didn't get the money in time
I heard her screamin' loud from the other side of town
And the train was comin' down the lineExclamation points jumped out her eyes
Rips all across her fishnet thighs
Big tears rolling as I'm strugglin' to cut her looseShe had a little bit of karma above her left eye
It hit me in the shape of a scar
I tried to help her out with the ride back home
But she jumped right outta my carBaby, I just really wanna know you
Can't keep me away, not if you try
Got lost in your town, ain't in no hurry
I'm faster than your man, he'll never catch meWell since that night I really thought about things
I fell for an angel with the dirty wings
Now I have to find her, let her know how I feel
Gotta tighten up some business before I make it realPaul didn't like that I pulled her off the tracks

Real late last Saturday night
I knew he was mad when I got to the pad
'Cause he left me a real nice surpriseDropped a little message in my mailbox
He told me where to meet him, that we had to talk
He said I shouldn't mess with his curly locks
And if I did again he'd pump me full of shotsI took that meeting with the pimp named Paul
Stabbed him in the heart and watched him fall
Went lookin' for my angel all over the place
I found her in the movie by Andrew BlakeBaby, I just really wanna know you
Can't keep me away, not if you try
Got lost in your town, ain't in no hurry
I'm faster than your man, he'll never catch meBaby, I just really wanna know you
Can't keep me away, not if you try
Got lost in your town, ain't in no hurry
I'm faster than your man, he'll never catch me

Chris Greenwood (best known as Manafest) is a rapper from Toronto Ontario Canada.

He is also a skater, which led to his career in hip hop; after an accident in 1998, he took time to focus on rap and was noticed by Trevor McNevan of Ontario-based band Thousand Foot Krutch. This led to his signing to an internationally distributed label, BEC Recordings, and debut release Epiphany, which was made primarily of West Coast hip hop with several rapcore outings in the vein of Limp Bizkit.

He released two independent albums, Mislead Youth (2001) and My Own Thing (2003), prior to Epiphany in 2005. He has toured in Canada, the United States and Ireland to date.

His second album, Glory, emphasized rap-rock elements with more Linkin Park-esque nu metal, and included more authentic hip hop stylings.

Central themes of Manafest's music include nonconformity, hip hop culture, and walking with God.

Manafest says in regards to Glory that: "I wanted to allow all of my influences show on Glory. Musically, I wanted to blend the appeal of Linkin Park, Sum 41, and The Beastie Boys. Vocally, I wanted to merge that with popular hip hop à la Eminem and Kanye West. But beyond musical influence, I wanted to reflect on the issues around me in the most positive way possible. And whether I am talking about the loss of loved ones and abuse, or breakdancing and skate culture, it's all for the glory of heaven. In the end, my prayer is that people would not simply bob their heads to this, but feel a very real sense of healing from the words. However, this record is not all serious. Some of my favorite tracks are the most lighthearted ones."
