War Party Lyrics

You invite me to a war party me no wanna go
Everybody seem to be inviting me
To a war party me no wanna go
Heard about the last one so thanks but-no thank you, youYou killed off all the Indians and you killed off all the slaves
But no quite so you killed off the remains
You a look for me I'm looking for you
I can't believe what they say about you is trueThat you're a bad star just like Pharaoh
You killed the children just like Pharaoh
Now you send a ticket for me
It don't have R.S.V.P.Oh Lord it's a war party me no wanna go
Everybody seem to be inviting me
To a war party me no wanna go
Heard about the last one so thanks but-no thank you, youYou've invited all our wise men many time before
To dance around your fires and even out your scores
And when tolls taken of the valiant and the brave
The only decoration is the one upon the gravesOh no you're a bad star just like Pharaoh
You killed the children just like Pharaoh
Now you send a ticket for me

And it don't have R.S.V.P.Oh Lord it's a war party me no wanna go
Everybody seem to be inviting me
To a war party me no wanna go
Heard about the last one so thanks but-no thank youLive right, live rightPlease don't send no ticket for me
No don't send no ticket
No don't send no ticket for me
If it don't have R.S.V.P.Oh Lord it's a war party me no wanna go
Everybody seem to be inviting me
To a war party me no wanna go
Heard about the last one so thanks but-no thank youDo you wanna go, say no
Oh, do you wanna-na-na go, say no
Me no wanna go right now
Me no wanna go right nowThey invite me to a war party me no wanna go
Everybody seem to be inviting me
To a war party me no wanna go
Heard about the last one so thanks but-no thank you

Eddy Grant (b. 1948) is a Guyanan musician. Born Edmond Montague Grant on the 5th March 1948 in Plaisance, Guyana, he emigrated with parents to London, England when he was still young. As a teenager he formed the multi-racial group The Equals. He sported dyed blonde hair, and had his first million-selling number-one hit in 1968, when he was the lead guitarist and main songwriter with his song "Baby Come Back". Grant openly used his songwriting for political purposes, as in "Police on My Back", and later "Gimme Hope Jo'anna" about the then-current apartheid regime of South Africa.
