War/Subvert Lyrics

War - War - War - WarThere's war in Afghanistan
And war in Northern Ireland
And war in South America
And war in AfricaAnd war - Violence
War - OppressionThere's violence in London
And violence in Bristol
And violence in New York
And violence in MoscowAnd war - Violence
War - OppressionThere's war in Heaven
Unrest on Earth
And war in my head
And war in my houseAnd war - War - War - War--Subvert - Subvert - Subvert - SubvertIf you gotta job
You can be an agent
You can work for revolution
In your place of employmentIf you gotta job you can be an agent
You can work for revolution in your place of employment
If you work in a factory throw a spanner in the works
Internal sabotage, hit them where it hurtsSubvert - Subvert - Subvert - SubvertIf you gotta job

Where they treat you like a slave
Where they treat you like a zombie
In their corporate graveIf you work in a office making tea for the bosses
While they are getting richer on ten time your pay
They may think you're stupid but you're working undercover
You've got the potential to disobeySubvert - Subvert - Subvert - SubvertIf you've got a job
Cause there's nothing else to do
Where they think they've got you trapped in
The boxes that they chooseIf you've got a job you can be an agent
If you work in a kitchen you can redistribute food
If you are a policeman ordered to arrest me
You don't have to do it, you can refuseSubvert - Subvert - Subvert - SubvertSubvert - Subvert - Subvert - SubvertIf you gotta job
You can be an agent
You can work for revolution
In your place of employmentIf you gotta job you can be an agent
You can work for revolution in your place of employment
If you work in a factory throw a spanner in the works
Internal sabotage, hit them where it hurtsSubvert - Subvert - Subvert - Subvert

Zounds were a UK anarchist band formed in 1977 from loose jamming sessions around the Reading area. Originally they were part of the cassette culture movement, releasing material on the Fuck Off Records tape label, and were also involved in the squatting and free festival scene. The band met up with fellow anarchists Crass when, legend has it, their van broke down on the road. They made their way to nearby Dial House, where Crass were based, who helped them with repairs. The two bands became friends, and although musically very divergent, they shared many common political views.
