Warm Hands, Cold Heart Lyrics

One rainy day, chivalry walked up to me
Asking for directions to a good time
Dashing was his smile, responded I instinctively
Accept the invitation for a whileI couldn't get away, I sipped the wine, I wanted more
He was psychological addiction, I bowed my head to pray
But the devil said, "Girl, stay and play"
I was so exposed, had no protectionHe had warm hands, cold heart, tryin' to love and tryin' to please
With charm, a head start, almost brought me to my knees
Warm hands, cold heart, tryin' to love a better day
Almost spirited me awayMy will left home, packed its bags and flew away
Dashing was my succor, was my weakness
I was so alone, would have stayed that way a thousand days
I enjoyed his bitter, not his sweetnessHe had warm hands, cold heart, tryin' to love and tryin' to please
With charm, a head start, almost brought me to my knees
Warm hands, cold heart, tryin' to love a better day
Almost spirited me awayHe was messin' with my psyche, he was playin' with my mind
Adventure and excitement can be hard to find
But the pleasure in the danger was so intoxicating

I had to break away, yeah, yeah, yeahWarm hands, cold heart
With charm, head start
Warm hands, cold heart
With charm, head startHe had warm hands, cold heart, tryin' to love and tryin' to please
With charm, a head start, almost brought me to my knees
Warm hands, cold heart, tryin' to love a better day
Almost spirited me awayWarm hands, cold heart
With charm, head start
Warm hands, cold heartHe was psychological addictionHe had warm hands, cold heart, tryin' to love and tryin' to please
With charm, a head start, almost brought me to my knees
Warm hands, cold heart, tryin' to love a better day
Almost spirited me awayWarm hands, cold heart
With charm, head start
Warm hands, cold heartWarm hands, cold heart
With charm, head start

Des'ree, born Desiree Weeks on November 30, 1968 in London, England was one of Britain's most successful pop/soul vocalists throughout the 1990s. She changed her name from Desiree Weeks because she preferred a two-syllable name.

In 1994 the hit single "You Gotta Be" hit Billboard Top 5 and was a hit in the UK three times. It also allowed Des'ree to break into America. "You Gotta Be" was also a major hit in the United States, and it was featured in the movie The Next Karate Kid, starring Hilary Swank. The second song from Des'ree's second album, "Crazy Maze" featured in the movie Nothing to Lose. Coincidentally, her last album ("Dream Soldier") featured a song entitled "Nothing to Lose". Her song "Kissing You" featured on the 1996 Baz Luhrman movie "Romeo + Juliet" and is generally considered to be one of her greatest works and a showcase for her distinctive and impressive vocals.

In 1999, she won a Brit Award for the British Female Solo Artist category. Her 2003 release Dream Soldier was considerably less successful.
