Wasted Whiskey Lyrics

I had every intention
Of gettin' hammered here tonight
I gave my truck keys to the bar keep
Said, Dave, dont you dare let me driveBut in the middle of this bottle
I drank my train of thought off track
So Ive gotta stop drinkin' or start rethinkin'
My reasonin' for throwin' 'em back'Cause its just wasted whiskey
Tryin' to drink you off from my mind
There aint enough Bourbon behind this bar
And I aint got that kinda timeSo Im gonna stand while I can and raise my glass
Toast every time you kiss me
'Cause drinkin' to forget about you
Is wasted whiskeySo heres to new beginnings
And to the memories
And cheers to your momma and daddy
'Cause they were right about you and meAnd heres to Millsap on the jukebox
And to your new friends youve found
And heres to our joint account, Mastercard

'Cause Im buyin' the whole house around'Cause its just wasted whiskey
Tryin' to drink you off from my mind
There aint enough Bourbon behind this bar
And I aint got that kinda timeSo Im gonna stand while I can and raise my glass
Toast every time you kiss me
'Cause drinkin' to forget about you
Is wasted whiskeyIts just wasted whiskey
Tryin' to drink you off from my mind
There aint enough Bourbon behind this bar
And I aint got that kinda timeIm gonna stand while I can and raise my glass
Toast every single time you ever kiss me
'Cause drinkin' to forget about you
Is wasted whiskeyOh, drinkin' to forget about you
Thats just wasted whiskey

Rodney Atkins, born March 28, 1969 in Knoxville, Tennessee, is an American country singer. He was an adopted child. As an infant at the Holston Methodist Home for Children in Greeneville, Tennessee, he was so sick that two couples who had taken him home returned him just a few days later. A third couple from Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, adopted him as well and, even though his ailments worsened, refused to give him up. His adoptive mother had been raised in a coal mining family near a tannery camp, and his dad survived an upbringing marked by poverty and episodes of abuse. Rodney is married and has a 4-year-old son named Elijah, who is featured in the video for Rodney's song "Watching You". While his career had a bit of a slow start, he subsequently achieved success with his first #1 hit (If You're Going Through Hell) and the fast climbing follow-up single (Watching You).

Songfacts.com reports that he lead-off single from Rodney Atkins' fourth album, titled Take A Back Road, finds the singer looking to leave the stress of the city. It was released on April 26, 2011.
