Way Back Texas Lyrics

Sometimes it's a car
A certain shade of misty blue
I think of you and I wonder
How on earth you areWell, sometimes just a song
Is playing on my radio
And there I go
Just a wishing you were singing alongThat's all it takes
[Incomprehensible] dreamin'I'm in way back Texas
You were laying in my arms
Had a glass ring necklace
We're gonna buy that little farmWay down by the river
Yeah, raise a family
Down in way back Texas
Population, you and meMe, I'm doing well
No one in particular
But girl I heard that you went
And you rang them wedding bellsYou say your name is John
'Cause daddy owns a dealership

But the slipper don't quiet fit
Yet life goes on and onSo I guess that I'll hang up
I just wonder if you ever dream ofWay back Texas
Where you laid in my arms
Had a glass ring necklace
We're gonna buy that little farmWay down by the river
Yeah, live happily
Down in way back Texas, way back
Population, you and meAnd every now and then
If you need me, I'll be back inWay back Texas
Where you're laying in my arms
Had a glass ring necklace
We're gonna buy that little farmWay down by the river
Yeah, raise a family
Down in way back Texas
Population, you and me

Pat Green was born in San Antonio and raised in Waco, Texas, the eighth of nine siblings. His father was a stage actor, and Green fell in love with the musicals his father acted in. Green began his musical career when he was 18 and in college at Texas Tech in Lubbock. "I started playing guitar to pick up the chicks," Green laughs. "Before that, I only sang in the shower. I could mimic other people's voices. It took me a long time to find my own voice, but once I did, I became very comfortable with it. It's not real pretty but it's believable."
