Way Back in the Way Back When Lyrics

Set our sights on some distant land
Way back in the way back when
Packed our troubles in an old pack tent
Way back in the way back when
Spoke the language 'til we knew what it meant
Way back in the way back when
Prayed to God he had a hand to lend
Way back in the way back when
We were livin'
Breathin'
Broken, battered but believin'
Way back, way back
Way back in the way back when
We set out on a road that had no end
Way back in the way back when
Crossed the deserts in our caravan
Way back in the way back when
Built our homes on the shiftin' sand

Way back in the way back when
I love you, darlin', and I won't pretend
Way back in the way back when
We were livin'
Breathin'
Broken, battered, but believin'
Way back, way backWay back in the way back when
We walked some hard roads
We took some hard roads
Drifted up on the wrong shore
Been shown out the back door
Been told to keep movin'
Signs ain't improvin'
Showin' up on the wrong side
But nobody's gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna break my stride
So I dressed myself up in thicker skin
Way back in the way back when
Listened to noone but the gods within
Way back in the way back when
I sang my song 'til I knew what it meant
Way back in the way back when
Prayed to God he had a hand to lend
Way back in the way back when
We were livin'
Breathin'Broken, battered, but believin'Way back, way back
Way back in the way back whenI'll keep moving on
I'll keep moving on

Vocalist and guitarist for Irish rock group The Frames. Hansard quit school at age 13 to begin busking on local Dublin streets. He first came to public attention as guitar player 'Outspan Foster' in the Alan Parker film The Commitments, a role he subsequently regretted, believing it distracted from his music career. In 2003 he presented the first series of Other Voices: Songs from a Room, which showcased Irish music talent on RTÉ. He released The Swell Season, his first solo album, on April 21st 2006, in collaboration with a Czech singer and multiinstrumentalist Markéta Irglová, Marja Tuhkanen and Bertrand Galen.

Glen recently starred in the movie 'Once' alongside Markéta Irglová which won a prestigious Sundance Audience Award in 2007, as well as the 2008 Academy Award for Best Originial Song (for "Falling Slowly"), beating out three songs from the Disney musical "Enchanted" and one song from "August Rush" (both were heavy contenders). Its Irish release took place on 23rd March 2007 and appeared in cinemas further afield later in the year.

Glen's latest album, Rhythm and Repose, was released in June 2012.
