We Can Read The Stars Lyrics

Let's clear the air,
Resolve last night.
My blurry eyes have questions.
How did we fare
On our starlit flight?
Despite the best intentions
Changed directions you know?
Now we can read, we can read the stars
Those seamless curves
Steal my age
And whisper to me secretly.
Let's kill this urge
Don't alter fate.
Afraid of this velocity.
What's best for me? Yeah.
Now we can read, we can read the stars
Now we can see, we can see in the dark
Don't tell a soul. I know where I wanna go.

So high, so low, gonna fly. Gotta get me home.
Runnin' away, runnin' away from here
Back to my own time. No time to waste.
My hopeless plight
An orphaned ghost
Escaping their embraces.
Arrest this life.
You're in control.
Atone for this.
Disgrace us.
They won't chase us. Oh no.
I need to know that you're gonna find a way.

In the summer of 2010 New York City power-pop trio Tiny Animals completed a successful national tour that included a defining appearance at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, which left American Songwriter “head over heels in love.” Add to the mix consistent, prominent placements on popular television shows like MTV's Jersey Shore, 16 And Pregnant, and The Real World, and it’s clear that Tiny Animals offer what the Washington Post Express called “unapologetically hooky mainstream-friendly rock.”

Tiny Animals now prepare to release Our Own Time, their second full-length on North Street Records, written in a more collaborative fashion, as well as with vocal improvements, a shift in lyric writing, distinct drum and guitar parts, and vocal harmonies. “We’re all wearing our hearts on our sleeves with this record,” says drummer Rita Maye. The result is an album that can be listened to from beginning to end and paints a moving picture. “Our Own Time is built like a luxury car we otherwise couldn’t afford,” says bassist Anton Kreisl with a chuckle. “It’s a great ride that will hold its value.” Produced by Tiny Animals and Claudius Mittendorfer (Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, Muse), and mastered by Steve Fallone of Sterling Sound, Our Own Time will release on April 5, 2011.

Our Own Time follows Tiny Animals’ 2009 debut album, Sweet Sweetness, which was met with raving reviews from notable publications like Amplifier Magazine, The Big Takeover and All Music Guide, highlighting the trio's appealing uniqueness. Tiny Animals is a band of three distinctly comical, creative and musically masterful individuals who, as a whole, create a personality that's incredibly interesting, genuine and downright lovable. Guitarist and brother to Rita Maye, Chris Howerton says, “We’re not rockstar-cool; we’re three dorky people playing music. No leather jackets, no slicked hair, no cigarettes.”

That said, with three down-to-earth musicians who rock hard, including a hot chick drummer, it’s difficult not to call Tiny Animals cool. It’s their playful, honest mentality that lends itself to unique and widely talked about creations outside of the music including comical webisodes, documentaries, video games and iPhone apps, as well as the realization that taking good-looking photographs are impossible. Growing up on 90’s grunge and alternative rock, Tiny Animals truly believe that it’s best to come as you are.
