We Tried Lyrics

I and my daddy went out to drink, my momma will not cry
I'm honest when I tell the truth and I'm lying when I lie
And there's a lot of things that I don't do
'Cause I don't follow it through like
I want to but I don't want toThe devil's beggin' for my time, the good Lord for my soul
I'm always easier to catch then I ever been the whore
I'm a twisted rose of [Incomprehensible], last thing that I need
Is to want you 'cause I don't want toBut that ain't what this love's about
My heart ain't on my side
And if someday it don't work out
Then we can say we triedI'm not afraid of anything but now I'm running scared
I know the hurt this could bring is more than I could bear
I'm tired of wearing lonely shoes, I've nothing left to lose
That I don't want to but I don't want to'Cause that ain't what this love's about
My heart ain't on my side
And if someday it don't work out
Then we can say we triedThat ain't what this love's about
My heart ain't on my side

And if someday it don't work out
Then we can say we tried
Yeah, we can say we tried
