Wellington Road Lyrics

God is looking down upon the shivering ones
Shooting up down on the Wellington Road
And reaching out for their armsBut we don't wanna know
Down on the Wellington Road
Where all tomorrow's peace of mind
Is bought and soldOh, but he never gives up on you
Oh, no, he never gives up on you
No, no, he never gives up on you
No, no, he never gives up on youUp on you
Up on you
Up on youLife's a little longer on the Wellington Road
Grinding teeth down 'til the money goes cold
We shake our fist at the sky'Cause we already know
Down on the Wellington road
The only saviors left behind
Are bought and soldOh, but he never does let you go
Oh, no, he never does let you go
And whoa, and he never gives up on you

No, no, he never gives up on youUp on you
Up on you
Up on youUp on you
Up on you
Up on you
Up on youGod is looking down upon the shivering ones
Shooting up down on the Wellington Road
Reaching down for their heartsBut we don't wanna know
Down on the Wellington Road
Where all tomorrow's peace and love
Are bought and soldOh, but he never does let you go
No, no, he never does let you go
And whoa, and he never gives up on you
No, no, he never gives up on youUp on you
Up on you
Up on youUp on you
Up on you
Up on you
Up on youHe don't give up on you
He don't give up on you
He don't give up on you

The dark side of the '90s Britpop revival, Bristol's Strangelove married Patrick Duff's deep, lovelorn croon to a spider's web of glistening guitar lines which Radiohead held as an early influence. The poetic, purple wine-tinged grace of their first two drug infused albums has not dated in the intervening years and while their final eponymous release suffered from the tensions tearing the band apart, their legacy of Bad Seeds/Doors inspired epics and frantically crawling the walls poetry endures.
