What Becomes of the Brokenhearted Lyrics

As I walk this land of broken dreams
I have visions of many things
But happiness is just an illusion
Filled with sadness and confusionWhat becomes of the brokenhearted
Who had love that's now departed?
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind, maybeThe roots of love grow all around
But for me, they come a-tumbling down
Every day, heartaches grow a little stronger
I can't stand this pain much longer
I walk in shadows, searching for light
Cold and alone, no comfort in sight
Hoping and praying for someone who'll care
Always moving and going nowhereWhat becomes of the brokenhearted
Who had love that's now departed?
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind, help me, pleaseI'm searching, though I don't succeed
For someone's love, there's a growing need

All is lost, there's no place for beginning
All that's left is an unhappy ending
Now what becomes of the brokenhearted
Who had love that's now departed?
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind
I'll be searching everywhere
Just to find someone to care
I'll be lookin' every day
I know I'm gonna find a way
Nothing's gonna stop me now
I'll find a way somehow
And I'll be searching everywhere... (fade out)
I know I'm gonna find it there

Marc Broussard (born January 14, 1982) is an American singer and songwriter. The Louisiana native released his first major album (with Island Def Jam Records) on August 3, 2004. The album's title Carencro pays tribute to the musician's hometown of Carencro, Louisiana. His style is best described as "Bayou Soul," a mix of funk, blues, R&B, rock, and pop, matched with distinct Southern roots.

Marc is best known for the songs "Where You Are" and "Home." Broussard previously released several independent efforts, including 2002's Momentary Setback which spawned the hit "The Wanderer", a song about self discovery. A re-worked version of the song appears on Carencro. As of July 2005, "Home" was released as a single.

Although Broussard is rather unknown, he is characteristically known and critically praised for his strong vocals. However, he has garnered an uptick in popularity thanks to a snappy tune "Must Be The Water" which is featured in television commercials on TNT for the 2008 NBA All-Star game held in New Orleans.
