What Child Is This? Lyrics

What Child is this who laid to rest
On Mary's lap is sleeping
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keepingThis, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, haste to bring Him laud
The Babe, the Son of Mary
The Babe, the Son of MaryWhy lies He in such mean estate
Where ox and ass are feeding
Good Christian, fear for sinners here
The silent Word is pleadingThis, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, haste to bring Him laud
The Babe, the Son of MarySo bring incense, gold, and myrrh
Come peasant, come king to own Him
The King of kings salvation brings
Let loving hearts enthrone HimRaise, raise, the song on high
The virgin sings Her lullaby

Joy, Joy for Christ is born
The Babe, the Son of MaryThis, this is Christ your King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, Haste to bring Him laud
The Babe, the Son of MaryThe Babe, the Son of MaryOoh, born in a manger, laid in some hay
They just didn't know who you were
Ooh, You were born in a stable, so far away
O, we just didn't know who You wereYes, sweet little Jesus, boy
Sweet little Jesus, boy, oohDidn't know who, who you were

There are three separate artists/groups going by the name 'Selah' - a Dove award-winning Christian band from Tennessee, a solo independent British artist, and a solo American Christian (Lisa Watkins). 1) Selah is a Christian band that has been featured on The 700 Club, The Hour of Power, and TBN. The original 3-person line up consisted of Nicol Sponberg, Allan Hall, and Todd Smith. Their success came quick when they released their first album, Be Still My Soul, in 1999, and would win a Dove Award for that album soon afterwards.
