What Hold Lyrics

What hold this has on you?
Heavy shoulder
Your feet tied to the floorYour former self would
Hate these fixtures
Of metal wire and woodAs you lay down in stranger's linen
The bluish scars you hide
Reminisce of sweet addiction
Strings you never tiedWould you bend these bars
That hold you?
Keep you from the peace
And stillness comeAnd lay your head
Beside a better burden
Until the heal has comeAs you depart from
Short duration
And cut the bracelet offThe withered arm and
Port of entry
The living for the numbI would bend these bars
That hold you

Keep you from the peace
And stillness comeAnd lay your head
Beside a better burden
Until the heal has comeYou will see sunrise again
You will see sunrise again
You will see sunrise again
You will see sunrise again

William Fitzsimmons (born 1978) is an American singer-songwriter, based in Illinois. He is perhaps best-known for his songs "Passion Play" and "Please Don't Go", which aired during pivotal scenes in the TV medical drama Grey's Anatomy. Fitzsimmons was raised in the outskirts of the steel city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the youngest child of two blind parents. Due to the family's inability to communicate through normal visual means, Fitzsimmons' childhood home was filled with a myriad of sounds to replace what eyes could not see.
