Wheels on Fire Lyrics

Well you say, you won
You'll work until the work is done
I don't see you lift a hand
To help out one of your fellow manAnd they're using us up again
But I won't be no puppet on a stringYour wheels on fire
Your one desire
Is to roll and rule over everyone
Come on let them do it
We see right through it
You can roll and rule
But we will overcome
You say, you won
The talk until all the talk is done
I see you move your mouth
But I hear nothing of any weight come outAnd you're calling
On out the feed again
You're talking, talking
But you're not really saying anythingYour wheels on fire

Your one desire
Is to bend and twist every little thing we've done
Go on and do it
We see right through it
You can bend and twist
And we'll be holding strongYou're building us up just to tear us down
You think that nothing's gonna stop you now
But I hear you're preaching from a nervous throne
Your wheels on fire
Your one desire
Is to point and push your will on everyone
Go on and do it
It's so like you
You can point and push
But we will overcomeYour wheels on fire
Your one desire
Is to turn and twist all night long
Go on and try it
But no-one buys it
You can turn and twist
But we will overcomeWe will overcome

Vocalist and guitarist for Irish rock group The Frames. Hansard quit school at age 13 to begin busking on local Dublin streets. He first came to public attention as guitar player 'Outspan Foster' in the Alan Parker film The Commitments, a role he subsequently regretted, believing it distracted from his music career. In 2003 he presented the first series of Other Voices: Songs from a Room, which showcased Irish music talent on RTÉ. He released The Swell Season, his first solo album, on April 21st 2006, in collaboration with a Czech singer and multiinstrumentalist Markéta Irglová, Marja Tuhkanen and Bertrand Galen.

Glen recently starred in the movie 'Once' alongside Markéta Irglová which won a prestigious Sundance Audience Award in 2007, as well as the 2008 Academy Award for Best Originial Song (for "Falling Slowly"), beating out three songs from the Disney musical "Enchanted" and one song from "August Rush" (both were heavy contenders). Its Irish release took place on 23rd March 2007 and appeared in cinemas further afield later in the year.

Glen's latest album, Rhythm and Repose, was released in June 2012.
