When I Call On You Lyrics

When the stars shine at night
I see your face in their twinkling light
I hear your voice like the breeze in the trees
That's when I call on you
And when the moon fades away out of sight
And the breeze seems to whisper to me
That you are my only light
That's when I call on you
That's when I call on you
That's when I call on you
When I wondering if you're thinking of me too
That when I call on you

He was born Delecta Clark in Blytheville, Arkansas, and moved to Chicago in 1941. His mother, Essie Mae Clark, was a gospel singer and encouraged her son to pursue his love of music.
