Where the Lilac Grows Lyrics

(Roy C. Bennett/Sid Tepper)
*Sung to the tune of "Greensleeves"
I met my love where the lilac grows
Where the wind blows free, and the river flows
Her lips were sweet as a red, red rose
And we walked hand in hand through the glen
I love my love with a love so true
And the dream I dreamed, she was dreaming too
Her laughter echoed the meadows through
Ever green was the world I knew then
Now she's gone and I walk alone
Where the wind blows free, and the river flows
Wondering, wondering, where's the love
That I found where the lilac grows

I met my love where the lilac grows
Where the wind blows free, and the river flows
Her laughter echoed the meadows through
Ever green was the world I knew then
Now she's gone and I walk alone
Where the wind blows free, and the river flows
Wondering, wondering, where's the love
That I found where the lilac grows
