Whole Lotta Shakin' Lyrics

There were Paul and Silas
stuck down in that jail
Their hands were chained
and their backs did bleed
Things weren't looking all that wellThey lifted up their voices
Began to sing and pray
Then the building shook
and the doors swung wide
And the guards began to say...
There's a whole lotta shakin' going on,
There's a whole lotta shakin' going on,
Well their faith held out
and they gave a shout
There's a whole lotta shakin' going on (shakin', a lotta shakin')Gideon and three hundred men
They faced a multitude
God sent them out with no swords or shields
but told them what to doThey broke the jars and let the light shine bright
then they gave a mighty shout

and the enemy, struck with fear and dread
wiped each-other outRepeat Now you may not have a wall of stone
or an army to defeat
You may not be on your way to jail
with shackles on your feet
But I bet there's something in your life
that you'd like to change around
so lift up your voice
give a shout of faith
and see the Power of God come downRepeat

The group was formed in 1980 on the spur of the moment before a concert with the song "First Day In Heaven" with Bill Gaither & Gary McSpadden of the Bill Gaither Trio, and Steve Green & Lee Young of the backup singers. Lee Young was dismissed in 1982, and Jon Mohr was hired as the new bass singer. They then recorded the album, Passin' The Faith Along. Later, tenor Steve Green left and Larnelle Harris was hired. This group cut the New Point Of View album before Mohr left.
