Will the Circle Be Unbroken Lyrics

I was standing by the window
On a cold and cloudy day
When I saw the hearse come rolling
To carry my mother awayWill the circle be unbroken
Bye and bye Lord bye and bye
There's a better home a waiting
In the sky Lord in the skyI said to the undertaker
Undertaker please drive slow
For this lady you are carrying
Lord I hate to see her goWill the circle be unbroken
Bye and bye Lord bye and bye
There's a better home a waiting
In the sky Lord in the skyWell I followed close behind her
Tried to hold up and be brave
But I could not hide my sorrow
When they laid her in that graveWill the circle be unbroken
Bye and bye Lord bye and bye
There's a better home a waiting

In the sky Lord in the skyI went back home that home was lonesome
Since my mother, she was gone
All my brothers and sisters crying
What a home so sad and alone

The Stanley Brothers (Carter Stanley, 1925-1966, and Ralph Stanley, born 1927) were an American bluegrass duo originally hailing from Dickenson County, Virginia. The family soon moved to McClure, Virginia, where their parents worked a small farm in the Clinch Mountains. Music was a part of their lives from the word go, as they were able to listen to the likes of The Monroe Brothers, Mainer's Mountaineers, and other artists featured on the Grand Ole Opry radio program.
