Workin' Lyrics

I've been workin' down there all my life
Ain't had no time to find a wife
Had plenty of chances but I took none
Gonna sit down at this bar, here
And I'm gonna have oneGonna drink till I can't see
What's happenin' to me
Gonna drink till it comes clear
What I'm doin' hereWhile I keep on workin'
Keep on workin'
Gonna sit down at this bar
While I keep on workin'Well, I don't need to drive down old highways
And I don't need to call up an old friend
'Cause all I need is what's in front of me
And I don't need nobody's companyI'm gonna drink till I can't see
What's happenin' to me
Gonna drink till it comes clear
What I'm doin' hereWhile I keep on workin'
Keep on workin'

Gonna sit down at this bar
While I keep on workin'Well, I don't need to drive down old highways
And I don't need to call up an old friend
'Cause all I need is what's in front of me
And I don't need nobody's companyGonna drink till I can't see
What's happenin' to me
I'm gonna drink till it comes clear
What I'm doin' hereWhile I keep on workin'
Keep on workin'
Gonna sit down at this bar
While I keep on workin'Yeah, keep on workin'
Keep on workin'
Gonna sit down at this bar
While I keep on workin'

Around the time Jack Ingram started writing songs and performing, he was studying psychology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. "Music and psychology come from the same place," he says. "It's about studying why people tick. I write songs to figure out my world, why people act the way they do, why they make the decisions they do."
Lucky for us, Ingram chose a career in music-and discovered an altogether different kind of therapy. He weaved his questions about life into songs whose depth and incisive wit were matched only by their melodic resonance and insistent hooks.
