Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday Lyrics

Yester-me, yester-you, yesterdayWhat happened to the world we knew
When we would dream and scheme
And while the time away
Yester-me, yester-you, yesterdayYeah, where did it go, that yester glow
When we could feel
The wheel of life turn our way
Yester-me, yester-you, yesterdayI had a dream, so did you
Life was warm and love was true
Two kids who followed all the rules
Yester fools and nowNow it seems those yester dreams
Were just a cruel and foolish game
We used to play
Yester-me, yester-you, yesterdayWhen I recall what we had
I feel lost, I feel sad
With nothing but the memory of
Oh, yester love and nowNow it seems those yester dreams
Were just a cruel and foolish game
We had to play

Yester-me, yester-you, yesterdayYester-me, yester-you, yesterday
Sing it with me
Yester-me, yester-you, yesterday
One more time, yeah

The Gaylettes, also known as The Gaylets or The Gaylettes featuring Judy Mowatt, were a reggae female trio from Jamaica in the late ‘60s to early ‘70s consisting of Judy Mowatt, Beryl Lawson and Merle Clemonson. The band formed in 1967 in Jamaica. The group disbanded when Lawson and Clemonson left for America in the early ’70s. Mowatt remained, and went on to join Bob Marley’s famous backup troupe, The I Threes. Mowatt continued to record for decades after, including a prolific spree of gospel albums between 1998-02.
