You Burned the Bridge Lyrics

You wanted your freedom, well, man look around
Now you're trapped by her memory and the cold hauntin' sound
Of your restless heart, she never could take
Yeah, you burned the bridge and it went down in flamesLike a whistle blowin' from a fast movin' train
The words that she said still ring true in your brain
And you cry Ike a baby at the drop of her name
Yeah, you burned the bridge and it went down in flamesNow you sift through the ashes for one piece of hope
You're searchin' your heart for the same
But you left her waitin' on the other side for a true love that never came
Yeah, you burned the bridge and it went down in flamesNow the smoke rises up from your last cigarette
And the whiskey goes down like a shot of regret
'Cause you know that you've lost her and you know who's to blame
Yeah, you burned the bridge and it went down in flames
Yeah, you burned the bridge and it went down in flames
