You For Me Lyrics

I wanna make enough money to run my life
From the top of a mountain in the dead of night
It'll be you and me and a couple of dogs
And the rest of the world can just move on
Cos i got what i want & I got what I need
& there's nothing in this world but you for meAnd there'll be fish in the lake
And there'll be chickens on the lawn
And we'll never go to sleep
And I'll never even yawn
You'll tell me lots of stories about when I was old
And I wasn't too much fun then
from all the stories I've been toldAnd I got what I want
And I got what I need
And there's nothing in this world but you for meSo, tell me I'm the only one
Nobody else could ever come close
I want to replace all of your memories
When you close your eyes you'll see only me someday
Someday...Well, we can sit up on the mountain

I can hold your hand
We'll forget all that we learned, we'll forget our plans
We'll see things more clearly in the absence of the light
&we'll realize there's nothing more than this tonightNow I got what I want
And I got what I need
And there's nothing in this world but you for me
Yes, I got what I want
And I got what I need
And there's nothing in this world but you for meSo, tell me I'm the only one
Nobody else could ever come close
Tell me I'm the only one
Nobody else could ever come close
Tell me I'm the only one
Nobody else could ever come close

After signing to Verve, Dearie returned to the U.S. where, despite developing a successful career and achieving international fame, by 1974 the lack of interest from major labels led her to start her own label, Daffodil Records.
