You Never Leave Lyrics

I don't know why you surprise me
You've said it all before
How you've sold yourself short
And you deserve moreBut you never leave, you wake up in the morning
You've slept another one off
You say, I'm sorry I just got lost
Feeling alone and out of touch
But you'd never leave and you'd never leave
Now you see that you still love meAnd I'm sorry that things get strange
You look at me and you lay the blame
I love you more than you think you know
So don't be surprised if I'm the one to go'Cause you'd never leave
And you'd never leave
Waiting on me to set you free
You'd never leaveAnd I dream at night I'm lying right there next to you
And I dream if we keep trying we'll pull through
But I wake up screaming and no one's there
And I realize that you weren't so scared

To be the one walking out the door
If I had been what you were looking forYou'd never leave, you'd never leave
If you were counting on me to set you free
And you'd never leave, and you never leave
You set yourself free, I've got your memory
You never leave

Around the time Jack Ingram started writing songs and performing, he was studying psychology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. "Music and psychology come from the same place," he says. "It's about studying why people tick. I write songs to figure out my world, why people act the way they do, why they make the decisions they do."
Lucky for us, Ingram chose a career in music-and discovered an altogether different kind of therapy. He weaved his questions about life into songs whose depth and incisive wit were matched only by their melodic resonance and insistent hooks.
