You Take Me Home Lyrics

I was blinded by the city lights
L.A. livin' up the crazy life
Lookin' back on how far I'd come
Not quite sure what I was runnin' fromA million miles away from the world I knew
Who'd ever thought it'd lead me back to youYou take me to front porch swings
Mama singin', "Cheatin' heart"
Yeah, what a rush
Catchin' lightnin' bugs in a mason jarYou take me to county fairs
Bedtime prayers, old wooden rockin' chairs
And all the things I loved I thought were gone
You take me home, you take me homeTook awhile to finally come around
And separate all that was lost and found
If there's one thing by now I better know
The grass ain't greener where it doesn't growI needed someone who would love me like you do
To lead me back to the simple truthYou take me to front porch swings
Mama singin', "Cheatin' heart"
Yeah, what a rush
Catchin' lightnin' bugs in a mason jarSummer heat, life's so sweet

And dancin' on daddy's feet
And all the things I loved I thought were gone
You take me home, you take me home

Rimes emerged with her first single, "Blue," when she was just thirteen years old in 1996. She is most recognized for her crossover hit "How Do I Live" which, according to the Billboard charts, is one of the most successful songs in American music history, spending 69 weeks on the charts, more than any other song in American history. While country singer Trisha Yearwood's version of the song won a Grammy in 1998, Rimes' version outsold Yearwood's by millions of copies.
