You Think You Know Somebody Lyrics

HmmYou open your heart
Open your mind
Let somebody in
Take a walk through you past
The good and the bad
Decide you can do this again
But it's supposed to feel different
Supposed to feel safe
Safe like going home
But just like sand
It slips through your hands
Before you know it your faith is goneEvery late night call,
Every morning kiss
All the "I can't live without yous"
And you say goodbye like this
Don't you understand?
Do you even care?
If you love me like you said you did

Well you'd still be standing here
You think you know somebody yeahIt's all just a blur
The nights are the worst,
This bed still smells like you
Wake up from the dreams
Catch my breath, it takes everything I've got to move
Yeah it could've been a long walk talk to fix this,
The seas were getting rough, but I thought we were worth this
Worth a try, worth a fight, show you what I know, yeahEvery late night call,
Every morning kiss
All the "I can't live without yous"
And you say goodbye like this
Don't you understand?
Do you even care?
If you love me like you said you did
Well you'd still be standing here
You think you know somebody yeahTell me where did you go, when the lights came up?
I don't even know you anymore
You're holding a knife I could see things better
Yeah you've done this beforeYou think you know
Hmm
Yeah, you think you know somebody
You think you know
You think you know
You think you know
You think you know
You think you know Every late night call,
Every morning kiss
All the "I can't live without yous"
And you say goodbye like this
Don't you understand?
Do you even care?
If you love me like you said you did
Well you'd still be standing here
You think you know somebodyYou think you know somebody, yeah yeah yeah
You think you know
You think you know
You think you know somebody, yeahYou think you know
You think you know
You think you know somebodyYou never know, you never know

Todd Daniel Snider is a singer-songwriter born October 11, 1966 in Portland, Oregon. Best known for his wry humor, Snider has been a fixture on the Americana, alt-country, and folk scene since his debut on MCA, entitled Songs for the Daily Planet, named for the bar where Snider used to play regularly in Memphis. On that album were the minor hits "Talkin' Seattle Grunge Rock Blues", a folk song about the early '90's grunge scene, featuring a band that "refused to play", and "Alright Guy", which later became the title cut of Gary Allan's 2001 album.
