You and the Night and the Music Lyrics

Time after time I tell myself
That I'm so lucky to be Jule Styne
When things seemed so dark
I walked up to Ray StarkAnd I said "Please meet a friend of mine
Ray Stark, Barbra Streisand, Barbra Streisand, Ray Stark "
Ms. Streisand sang and I played
He said, "She looks just like my maid"Just you do your job and I'll do mine
Which just goes to show
How much producers know
He said, "Bell bath would be divine"You all know the switch
The maid, she made him rich
For which he hates Jule Styne

Chesney Henry "Chet" Baker Jr. (December 23, 1929 - May 13, 1988) was born in Yale, Oklahoma. A trumpet player, Baker was an important part of the West coast "cool jazz" school of the 1950s. He first came to prominence in the jazz world as part of the pianoless Gerry Mulligan Quartet -- Mulligan had played with Miles Davis, whose Birth of the Cool is recognized as ushering in the movement. Baker's trumpet playing is characterized by incredibly sweet tones, clear and almost vibrato-less.
