Younger Days Lyrics

There was a time
There was a place
It was your name
It was your faceWell, I was sixteen
I thought I knew the plan
You were my girl
And I was your manLate nights on the phone
Late nights in my car
Late nights chasing you
Wherever you wereMaybe those were the days
And those were my nights
I've left them so far
So dim those lightsAnd even when I dream at night
I cannot see your face
Well, I close my eyes and softly say
Those were my younger daysFriday nights at the park
Pep rallies at schools
You cheering for me

Me playin' for youSometimes I look back
But I really can't see
That girl that I loved
My young sweet MarieAnd even when I dream at night
I cannot see your face
Well, I close my eyes and softly say
Those were my younger daysYeah, even when I dream at night
I cannot see your face
Well, I close my eyes and softly say
Those were my younger days
Those were my younger days

Around the time Jack Ingram started writing songs and performing, he was studying psychology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. "Music and psychology come from the same place," he says. "It's about studying why people tick. I write songs to figure out my world, why people act the way they do, why they make the decisions they do."
Lucky for us, Ingram chose a career in music-and discovered an altogether different kind of therapy. He weaved his questions about life into songs whose depth and incisive wit were matched only by their melodic resonance and insistent hooks.
