Canadian born artist Shmu dug a hole in his backyard and continued to dig until he reached Boston, Mass, where he attended and graduated from music college in Boston. Shmu then re-emerged in Austin, TX where he plays local music venues, as well as playing around Texas. There are hints of the 60s/70s California folk-rock/pop-rock scene with influences like CSNY, Joni Mitchell and Steely Dan. He draws from My Bloody Valentine and Smashing Pumpkins for his fuzzy/shoegazey material and dabbles in the minimalistic pop style of Talking Heads and modern acts like Animal Collective.
