Trombonist Ray Anderson’s forays into instrumental funk, blues, and R&B led him to form the Slickaphonics. What distinguishes this group from a knockoff set of imitators is that no matter what style he’s playing,
Anderson and his band still adhere to the highest musical standards. They don’t approach this as easy money or lesser material, and thus give it the intensity and attention required to play it credibly.
