Bayu Risa was born as Bayu Purwadi Risakotta in Depok, October 6, 1983. He already shown his interest in music at the early age of 10 when he joined a vocal group in an Indonesian cultural exchange program. He traveled to Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darusalam, Thailand, and the United States to sing Indonesian songs and introduced local culture to residents in those countries. When he was in high school, Bayu Risa continued developing his musical talent by actively performing in cafes and and school shows .
