Amy Loftus is a Chicago-born singer/songwriter, now resident in Nashville after a period in Los Angeles.[1] Her first solo record "Straight to Amy" was produced by Will Kimbrough in Nashville and released in March 2005.[2] The track Nashville Doesn't Sleep Here Tonight from that album was played on BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris' country show on January 19, 2006.[3]
Amy got her start in music in Chicago with a local band called "Cartoon Gypsies". She was a member of The Second City Training Center. She lived in Los Angeles for a short time and appeared in an episode of HBO's Tracey Takes On.
Amy Loftus was named "Best New Singer/Songwriter" by Nashville Scene magazine in their October 27, 2005 "Best of Nashville" edition,[4] and she placed third in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter category in the International Songwriting Competition in 2006 for the song "Work to Do" written with Will Kimbrough.[5]
