Augusten is a New York Times #1 bestselling author. His books have been published in many languages and in more than 25 countries. His memoir Running With Scissors (2002) stayed on the New York Times best seller list for over four years, and was made into the eponymous film, starring Alec Baldwin, Joseph Cross and Best Actress Oscar winners Annette Bening and Gwyneth Paltrow.
In April 2008 Augusten released a new book, A Wolf At The Table: A Memoir of My Father. His other memoirs are Running With Scissors, mostly focused on his childhood, and Dry (2003), about being an alcoholic in his twenties. He also has a couple of funny essay collections based on pages from his personal diaries: Magical Thinking (2004) and Possible Side Effects(2006). He is also the author of the novel Sellevision (2000), soon to become a movie.
Currently, Augusten is working on several projects, one of which is a memoir of his horrible holidays from childhood to date, entitled You Better Not Cry.
Augusten spends most of his time in front of his computer in the company of his two bulldogs, Bentley and Cow. He lives in New York and Amherst, Massachusetts with his partner of many years, Dennis.
