Miette is a one-person group based in Long Island, NY. Also known as Jennifer Merkel, she is currently a college student persuing cultural studies in anthropology. Influences for her music include Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Elliott Smith, Mira, Jewel, early Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men. Since the age of 3, she has been teaching herself the piano, and has been teaching herself guitar since the age of 14. Music, culture, and the persuit of greater change is what fuels her songwriting.
