Little is known about the enigmatic quartet named "soldiers & sailors" because the band very rarely makes public appearances. They are based in Pittsburgh, PA, were founded in 2007, and share a joint interest, expressed in thier music, in the literary work of Shirley Jackson. Their work is reminiscent of Tom Waits; disconsolate, blue, and with orchestrations that use unusual instruments, like recorders and pieces of pipe.
